Fishing

We know how the fisherman like to keep their favorite spots a secret, so we'll tell you ours as long as you promise not to tell anyome else.

The Muskegon River runs right through town and is one of the most under-appreciated fishing spots in the state.  A great spot for walleye is right inder the US-10 Bridge and downstream from there are great smallmouth bass waters.  The city of Evart has built 2 new fishing piers in the riverside park, both handicap assessable.

Other favorite spots include Sunrise Lake, Rose Lake, and Hicks Lake to the north, and Big Lake, Negaunee Lake and Chippewa Lake to the south.  Don't miss out on some great trout streams including the "Doc and Tom" stream.

There are dozens and dozens of Lakes, Streams and Rivers in Osceola County.  Stay with us and find yor favorite!  Just don't tell anyone!

Snowmobiling

For snowmobile riders, the Osceola Grand Hotel is perfect.  Our area has been called "the best kept secret" in Michigan.  Quiet, groomed trails lead to a safe, enjoyable trip.  Stay with us and eliminate the trailering.  There is plenty of parking and we're located across from the groomed Pere Marquette Rails-To-Trails system.  Go 13 miles west and it intersects the north-south White Pine Trails system, and a short 25 miles west to the Baldwin Trail system.

Ride from your room 1/4 mile to the Pere Marquette, or approximately 5 miles to the Old Sheep Ranch Trail, a series of two-tracks and county roads that wind through the beautiful Pere Marquette State Forest.  A local favorite, test your hill climbing at "Sugar Bowl" and "Uncle".  Treat yourself to dinner at the Sunrise Lake Bar and take a spin on the ice (conditions permitted).

Snowmobilers are allowed in Evart on a enter/exit basis only.  (This means you can ride in to enjoy the restaurants and gas stations, but no riding around town.)

For trail conditions direct from groomers, go to www.peremarquette.freeservers.com.

Dirt Bike Trail

Unofficially ranked "The Most Treacherous Dirt Bike Trail In The State", you should be at least a competent rider to challenge this trail.

Approximately a 28 mile run, this devilish black diamond trail weaves up, over and through the beautiful Pere Marquette State Forest.  Riders that take on this ride come away with a new respect and appreciation for mother nature and their own ability.

The Sunrise Lake Bar, overlooking pristine Sunrise Lake, makes for a perfect halfway stop.  (Try the fish fry...best around!) From Evart, it's a quick trip up the road to hop on the trails around the Baldwin area.

After the days ride, come back to your comfortable room at the Osceola Grand Hotel and soak away the days aches in our hot tub.

We are located a short 5 miles from the trailhead.
Trail maps are available at the hotel.

Hunting

For hunters, the Evart area is the place to be, and the Osceola Grand is the only hotel you need to know.

Thousands of acres of public Pere Marquette State Forest and thousands of acres of farmland create an almost ideal environment for whitetail deer. Osceola County has been featured in the Detroit papers almost yearly, and "Mr. Whitetail", as Claude Pollington has been called, resides in the north part of our county.  We are also fortunate to have a number of private deer ranches located around us.  For more information, give us a call!

For bow, muzzleloaders, youth and adult hunters...and small game...we've got what you're looking for!

For those of you looking to purchase your own land for hunting, just call Britz Realty at 231.734.5554 and ask for Bill!

Canoes

The Muskegon River provides a beautiful, shallow, slow-moving pace that is perfect for the family canoe or tubing adventure.  It is an easy in - easy out at Evart's Riverside Park, and canoes can be rented at Muskegon River Camp and Canoe, or bring your own. There are few things in life better than a relaxing float down the river on a hot day.

You've heard people talk about it, now it's your turn to try it!
